The Strange Talent of Luther Strode Volume 1

Justin Jordan (Author), Tradd Moore (Illustrator), Felipe Sobreiro (Colorist)

I can't think of a better title to kick things off than The Strange Talent of Luther Strode Volume 1 by Justin Jordan! This may be one of the best and most satisfying trades I've read in recent memory. Not just for an indie/creator-owned book but *any* trade. I'm not one for hyperbole and as time goes on you will see that I am not one to gush or rave about a book unless it truly is something spectacular, and this is! It skirts being too humorous or light but without going too serious or dark either, which is a fine line especially for a new character and world like this one. It has humor and darkness though throughout which is what makes the ride even more enjoyable. There is a nice twist of intelligence and thought put in by Justin Jordan that really makes this transcend the ordinary.

A young man receives incredible strength and abilities from one of those mail-order offers for a physique building, Charles Atlas, type book and The Strange Talent of Luther Strode Volume 1 delves into how that affects his life as well as those around him as he gets swept up into his new situation.

A brilliant book, I can't recommend this highly enough!

Welcome to Indie and Creator Owned Comics Talk!

This is an exciting time in comics, not because of some big "event" from the big two but because there are so many amazing independent and creator owned comics coming out and changing the game! Substance over style and a more honest and real relationship between the creators and the fans is what has always drawn me to this side of comics and with so many new ways to get the products to the masses it is an exciting time. I hope to cover what I'm reading each week and give some head's up on upcoming standouts, and I look forward to insights and input from all of you!
